REACH Wokingham

REACH Wokingham (Parents’ Forum) exists to support the families of children with disabilities/learning difficulties and to empower them to get the support and services they need for their children to achieve positive life outcomes and reach their full potential.

There a 3 ways in which we do this:

INFORMATION
We provide parents with opportunities to
• Learn more about the services that are available locally.
• Share their experiences and ideas.
• Receive support and gain confidence.
Well-informed parents are then better placed to give opinions on the services that really matter to their families.

CONSULTATION
Consultation is the most important aspect of REACH Wokingham’s work.
We collect opinion through
•Informal contact with parents at our events, providing the opportunity to share experiences and ideas with other parents and carers.
•Targeted consultation and Q & A sessions on particular subjects.
•Formal surveys asking for opinions.
We are always eager to hear of other aspects of your child’s care that you believe could be improved and you can contact us at any time

PARTICIPATION
Information from consultation is shared with Social Care, Education and the NHS to help improve services now and shape provision in the future.
We aim for parents to be actively involved in discussing and planning future services. Ultimately this will result in more effective and appropriate services being available for the children and families of Wokingham.
Participation is also about empowering parents to engage more confidently and successfully in meetings about their child.
