Lattitude Global Volunteering is a youth development charity that specialises in overseas volunteering placements. Since 1972, Lattitude Global Volunteering has sent over 40,000 young people to volunteer in over 17 countries around the world, where they’ve had the opportunity to work in areas as diverse as conservation, medical work, outdoor sports, community projects and teaching and for placements lengths as varied as 10 weeks to 12 months.
We help young people from developed and developing countries to volunteer and make sure our placements deliver sustainable value for the children, communities and institutions that volunteers work in. We match every volunteer to a placement that really needs their skills and where they can have the most benefit as part of a larger, ongoing programme.
Excitingly, Lattitude is also now part of the new International Citizen Service (ICS), one of the world’s largest overseas volunteering programmes, funded by the UK government; offering 3 month placements to work in either Ghana and Malawi. In addition to youth development, the emphasis of ICS is to raise awareness of global issues and address major international developmental concerns. In order to make the ICS as inclusive as possible it is free for anyone aged 18-25 who is an EEA citizen and who has had residence in the UK for at least 12 months; no qualifications or previous experience required. For those who are older than 23, there is also the opportunity to volunteer as a team leader for 6 months at a time.
