Youth Inclusion Mentor – closing date 14 April 2019

NCS The Challenge is a social mixing charity and the largest provider of the National Citizen Service programme (otherwise known as NCS). The NCS programme brings together young people from varied backgrounds through four weeks (18 days) of physical, personal and creative challenges, leading to social action projects in their communities. The Youth Inclusion Mentor works exclusively with a young person with behavioural and/or emotional needs, motivating and supporting them to engage with NCS before, during and after the programme.

The young person you’ll support could be from one of the following backgrounds: Youth Justice System, history of offending, ‘looked after’ (in social care system), SEND, or Pupil Referral Unit. A perfect Youth Inclusion Mentor will be able to quickly bond with their young person and build a trusting relationship.

Managed by the Youth Programme Leader, you’ll work closely with the Pastoral Care Lead and the Team Mentors to ensure that your young person is engaging and integrating with their team.

This role is perfect for a confident, compassionate and experienced motivator, with experience of working with different groups of young people.
