Our Mencap Enables (ME) Day Activity Service is expanding and Reading Mencap has exciting opportunities for care support workers to join the team. No two days are the same at Mencap Enables, which provides meaningful activities for adults with learning disabilities, contributes to developing their independence and helps them try new interests.Members choose the activities they would like to do and regularly enjoy sports, Zumba, cooking and arts and crafts.
The ME Care Support Worker will be part of a small team to maintain the general welfare of all clients at all times attending to physical and personal needs as necessary. The Care Worker will, in the absence of the Day Lead, be responsible for some of their duties.
Ideal candidates will have experience of working with people with learning disabilities, together with an understanding of their changing needs in the community or in a caring role with other vulnerable people.
An NVQ 2 in Care or its equivalent is preferred or a willingness to work towards this qualification. Support will be given for study and financing of this qualification.
