The post of Care Act Advocate is a rewarding role that reaches out to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, to help them articulate their life choices and needs. We are therefore seeking someone who is committed to supporting local communities and is passionate about local people’s rights and ensuring their voices are heard.
The key responsibilities of this role are to support clients to have their say by working with them to understand their needs. Advocates will support the clients with the following:
- needs assessment
- carer’s assessment
- preparation of a care and support or support plan
- review of a care and support or support plan
- safeguarding enquiry
- safeguarding adult review.
The post holder will be expected to undertake a City & Guilds Level 3 Care Act Advocacy qualification as this is a statutory requirement of this role. The post holder will also have relevant experience in information, advice and guidance particularly with diverse groups and communities and socially excluded families and individuals. It is essential that applicants have good IT, organisational and communication skills and an interest in or experience of working with health and social care services.
