Reading Mencap is seeking bank sessional support workers for our unique ME Day Activity Service.
No two days are the same at ME (Mencap Enables), which provides meaningful activities for adults with learning disabilities, contributes to developing their independence and helps them try new interests. Members choose the activities they would like to do and regularly enjoy sports, Zumba, cooking and arts and crafts.
Postholders will be part of a small team providing practical assistance including support with activities, personal care, everyday living skills and travel awareness.
These roles would suit people who enjoy working as part of a small team, who are adaptable and non-judgemental and who have good communication skills.
Ideal candidates will also have experience of working with people with learning disabilities, together with an understanding of their changing needs in the community or in a caring role with other vulnerable people.
Appointment will be dependent on an enhanced DBS clearance and two satisfactory references.
