BAMER Community Engagement and Support Worker – closing date 10 August 2018

We have an exciting opportunity within our organisation to provide a quality service to victims of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in the BAMER community in the West of Berkshire. The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) were successful in a bid to the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to have a Thames Valley wide BAMER project.

Your role will be to identify and engage BAMER Communities to understand and express their needs in relation to violence against women and girls and to analyse this information to understand the gaps in, and barriers to, relevant services. Raising awareness will bring forward current and past victims of violence and you will provide support to keep victims and their children safe.

Experience of community engagement and of supporting victims, and fluency in at least one language apart from English are highly desirable for this role (please see person specification for further details).

This post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
