Reading Youth Orchestra Spring Concert 2017 will be raising money for local charity League of Friends of the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
This year, RYO will be celebrating the breadth of our local talent. Not only do we have our young members playing within the orchestra, but we are also excited to invite back Edward Reeve, Senior Organ Scholar at Queens’ College Cambridge. Edward was a member of RYO himself before he left for Cambridge, and will be joining us to play Rachmaninoff’s amazing second piano concerto.
In addition, we will be giving the premiere performance of a new symphony by Alex Illingworth who was our Principal Trumpet last year and is now studying at the University of Oxford. Inspired by Beethoven, he has written his first symphony in C minor which will be performed alongside Rachmaninoff’s concerto, a favourite with piano lovers, and the epic Finlandia by Sibelius.
RYO is supported by the Eureka! Foundation, which has a history of fundraising for local charities, having raised £30,000 in the last 20 years for good causes. Continuing this tradition, RYO will donate a proportion of the concert revenue to the League of Friends of the Royal Berkshire Hospital, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The concert is open to all, whether you’re new to classical music or a seasoned veteran.
Tickets are available by calling 07827 289768, priced at £12 adult, £8 concession, £5 child and £25 for a family ticket.
