Reading Town Harvest

Reading Food Growing Network is running the Harvest day, including ReadingTownHarvestpre-bookable workshops on vegetable growing for winter, cider making, chutneys and preserves, and tool care and sharpening.

On the day there will be plenty of activities for everyone including a harvest swap (produce and preserves), apple pressing and container planting. There will be small independent local suppliers of hot drinks, cakes and savoury snacks and activities from other local organisations such as Transition Town Reading and Reading Repair Café.

There are free workshops throughout the day, but you must book as there are limited spaces. Workshops include:

  • Making Preserves (chutney and apple cheese)
  • Winter vegetable growing
  • Basket weaving with waste
  • Tool sharpening and maintenance
  • Cider, perry and mead making
