After a well attended Champions to End Loneliness workshop at Caversham Library, local residents are invited to come along to the first Caversham End Loneliness Action Group meeting on Monday 30 October at 3pm, meeting at Tipsy Bean.
If you’re interested in getting involved but can’t make the first meeting, let me know and when we plan our next meeting we can try to factor people’s availability in.
If you can drop me an email to say you’re planning to come, just so we have an idea of numbers and I can tell Tipsy Bean if we will be a big group.
The focus of this first meeting will be outlining what we want the group’s aims and remit to be, and how we will decide on the sorts of actions we will take. Come along with ideas, or just come to find out what you can get involved with!
The sort of things the group could do include (but not limited to):
- Volunteer recruitment campaign for local organisations reducing loneliness
- Rolling out initiatives such as Coffee Companions (which has already begun in partnership with 3Cs Cafe)
- Carry out research into local needs around loneliness
- Develop new ideas that will help reduce loneliness in Caversham
Come along with ideas / enthusiasm or both and we’ll discuss how to develop this group to effectively take action on loneliness in Caversham.
