The next Wellbeing Forum for Reading’s Voluntary and Community Sector will be on Wednesday 4t April from 9:30am to 1:00pm in the Council Chamber. The programme will include short presentations followed by discussions groups.

We will be focusing on two of the priorities from the new Health and Wellbeing Strategy and how voluntary and community groups can and are contributing to:

  • Reducing loneliness and isolation,
  • Reducing deaths by suicide

Loneliness and isolation across all ages and within all communities

  • who is most at risk
  • establishing a Reducing Loneliness Steering Group
  • how existing Social Prescribing and Living Well services are connecting and re-connecting people with their communities
  • how can your services and activities contribute and where are the gaps

Presentations by RBC’s Wellbeing Team and RVA’s Social Prescribing service followed by workshop discussions

Reducing deaths by suicide

  • developing and delivering a Suicide Prevention Action Plan for Reading
  • links with social isolation/loneliness and the mental health of young people
  • how can your services and activities contribute and where are the gaps

Presentation by Reading Samaritans followed by workshop discussions
