We have updated our safeguarding resources and added ‘Reading Borough Council’s Safeguarding Information Sheet’, which is a very useful two page document summarising the core knowledge from Level 1 Safeguarding Adults and Universal Safeguarding Children. Here is the link:

RVA Safeguarding Resources during the Coronavirus Pandemic

This can be used by organisations to train new volunteers who are unable to access online training due to lack of technology during the pandemic. It is also useful as a general refresher for all volunteers.

When training your volunteers, it is a good idea to take them through specific scenarios that could occur in their volunteering role and how they would be expected to respond; as well as their role description, any behaviour code and your organisation’s safeguarding procedure.

Take a look at the RVA Guide for voluntary and community groups here with details of best practice when delivering response services during the current pandemic.
