Berkshire West Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB) brings together safeguarding leads from the three local authorities  (Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire), Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, the Clinical Commissioning groups, Royal Berkshire Hospital, Thames Valley Police, with Healthwatch and voluntary sector representatives.

The location of the quarterly meetings moves between Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham,  with Reading Voluntary Action sharing the voluntary sector role with colleagues from Volunteer Centre West Berkshire and Involve Wokingham.

Here is an update from the December Board meeting in Reading

Safeguarding Strategy 2018-2021
The Board is currently developing its new three year Strategy and has identified four high level, strategic priorities which will drive its work until 2021. An annual Business Plan will contain detailed actions to support the delivery of these priorities:
Priority 1: We will strengthen our communication and engagement across groups and communities in the West of Berkshire to ensure that our plans and actions are informed by the experience of the widest range of local people.

Priority 2: We will extend our links with other partnerships to work together to break down barriers across agencies and to promote Think Family/Think Community approaches. Make Every Contact Count.

Priority 3: We will share learning and develop innovative ways to support both paid and unpaid organisations across the partnership to continually build confidence and the effectiveness of everyone’s safeguarding practice.

Priority 4: We will understand how effective adult safeguarding is across the West of Berkshire to ensure that we identify emerging risks and take action accordingly.

We would like to hear your views on these priorities. Please forward any comments to natalie.madden@reading.gov.uk by 23rd January or after this date to Teresa Bell, the Board’s Independent Chair teresabellconsult@gmail.com
