In March, New Directions are running a Friday club for people claiming Universal Credit who need some support
This is a 4-week, relaxed group where people can practice using the journal for the Universal Credit system. As we know, many people are struggling with this and it is leading to difficulty accessing Universal Credit.
It is aimed at entry level 2 so it’s ideal for people who struggled at school. The tutor is an English tutor who has a background in parenting support and specialises in delivering confidence building courses so it’s also ideal for anyone with anxiety or loneliness issues.
People leave the course with a certificate which can be a confidence boost for them too. From here they can progress on to IT or budgeting courses which give them more practice in Universal Credit.
