Berkshire Phab have a fantastic sensory room, and it’s now looking even better following a much needed makeover. The room provides a great space for people with disabilities to chill out, enjoy the lights and colours, relax in the new ball pool or dance to loud music. There’s a glow in the dark rainforest mural and stars to gaze at.
“It looks fantastic after its makeover,” said Siân Hooley, Berkshire Phab Centre Manager. “We are really grateful to Reading Dispensary Trust, who gave us an amazing £1,000 towards the improvements. Reading Phab also helped with £250 towards new carpeting and we had volunteer runners raising money for us in this year’s Reading half marathon. Sensory room equipment is expensive, but we’re now able to provide an even better facility for people to enjoy.”
The sensory room is part of Berkshire Phab’s purpose-built centre at the MAPP Centre, 22 Mount Pleasant, Reading. It’s available to anyone who is a member of Berkshire Phab, and they are happy to welcome new members.
It’s open Monday to Thursday 10am to 4pm for adults and alternate Saturdays 9.30am to 1pm for ages 9 to 18.
