RVA shopping volunteers supporting vulnerable members of our community

Supported shopping service

Local voluntary sector groups have been working in partnership to coordinate support when calls for help come through to the One Reading Community Hub. Reading Voluntary Action has set up a supported shopping service for vulnerable members of our community. In the past 20 days, 12 shopping volunteers have completed 51 shops. RVA is working with 7 church hubs to help sustain the shopping project for as long as it’s needed.

‘Thank you so much! You all provide such a wonderful service and I hope you know the difference you make, being able to rely on someone to do our shopping for us eases so much pressure…  we really appreciate all your help.’

‘It’s lovely to be able to help vulnerable people who are not able to get out during this very difficult time. Everyone I have delivered to has been extremely grateful for the support we are providing.’ – Kate Russell, shopping volunteer
