At least every five years all local authorities have a duty to review homelessness in their area and publish a strategy that outlines how it intends to tackle and prevent homelessness.

Reading Borough Council is consulting on its draft Homelessness Strategy which sets out the priorities and plans for the next five years.

RBC has set the following priorities:

  1. Increase the use and accessibility of the private rented sector
  2. Prevent homelessness by supporting people to access housing and to sustain their accommodation
  3. Increase the information and advice available to enable people to make informed decisions about their housing situation

You can find the draft strategy and complete the on-line consultation here

The consultation closes on 23rd March 2016
