The Oracle shopping centre is taking part in Purple Tuesday on Tuesday 13 November 2018 to demonstrate the accessible features they have for shopping.
Come along for a free cake, a chat, friendly faces and guidance on accessible shopping in our centre from 10 am to 3 pm, next to Pravins on the Lower Mall. A Mencap drama performance will also be taking place at 11 am and 1 pm next to Pravins on the Lower Mall.
Purple Tuesday is a national campaign, organised by the disability organisation Purple, which encourages retailers to introduce new measures to make the experience of shopping more inclusive for disabled customers.
The Oracle will be launching their Safe Spaces scheme on the day. The aim of the scheme is to help people with a disability feel confident and safe while visiting the shopping centre. A Safe Space is somewhere a person can go and ask for help if they need assistance, are lost, frightened or in difficulty. The Oracle are developing a network of Safe Spaces – you can find out more here.
