One of the great success stories of the past few months is the launch of community newspapers around Reading, with Dee Park News, the Whitley Way and the Southcote Echo all proving very popular. The Amersham Road and Lower Caversham area is the latest to get its own paper.

Launched in July, the Caversham Compass will be a great opportunity for local people to get involved with a lively new community project, and will keep everyone in the area up to date with the latest news and events. Volunteers have been trained by Oxford Community Media, which has started a dozen papers in the Oxford area and has trained journalists for all the new community newspapers in Reading.

Community newspapers rely entirely on contributions from volunteers and local people – so if you have a story, an event to publicise or idea for a feature please get in touch. Likewise, the Caversham Compass would be delighted to hear from you if you have some time to help them. If you would like to get involved please email cavershamcompass@gmail.com
