Friday 14 December is Local Charities Day
Local Charities Day, run by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, is all about showcasing the amazing work of charities and volunteers and showing how you make a real difference to your local communities. You can find out more here and here. A large part of this day will be taking place on social media. To take part:
- You can add yourselves to the local charities map (typically a local charity is defined as one with an annual turnover under £1m).
- There’s a pledge page where yourselves and any volunteering networks you know can pledge their time to a local charity. The hashtag for this is #pledgeYOURtime
- You can also nominate Charities Champions here – this is for people who always go the extra mile for a local charity or cause.
On Friday there will be activity on social media centred around the hashtag #LocalCharitiesDay. Look out for other organisations using the hashtag and tag @HMGLondonSE on Twitter who will like and retweet any content you put out related to the day. There’s also a social media toolkit you can download here and a Twibbon here.
