A club which started out as a dream by two young people on the Amersham Road estate has become a reality with support from local residents.
Beginning after the October half term in 2018, two sessions for different school years were offered on Monday evenings. The first week saw 13 attending the younger group and 4 attending the older session. The young people enjoyed craft and sports activities. Everyone went home with a smile on their face. They also left the leaders with lots of ideas of things they wanted to do. The following week saw a growth in young people attending, especially the older session where attendance was almost double.
Each week during the term the numbers grew, however, the number of leaders fell. This meant that by the end of the term we had to combine the two sessions and limit numbers. Those who attended still enjoyed the sessions. They played football and dodgeball regularly, as well as Jenga and tin can alley. Craft activities were themed each week to link with current events. Young people also enjoyed chill out time with refreshments at the end of sessions.
