Get Berkshire Active is coordinating a series of open days which will be hosted at sites in West Berkshire in January. These events are free and open to older adults and disabled adults. Carers are welcome too.

They’re a great opportunity to get out of the house, socialise, try something new and get active. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to the centre before or if you haven’t been active for a long time, they can cater for everyone!

These events feature a range of taster activities including Walking Football, Walking Netball, New Age Bowls, Steady Steps (fall prevention), Tai Chi, Badminton and Nordic Walking. Local organisations will be there, including Age UK, Berkshire Vision, Mencap, Newbury Resource Centre, Alzheimers Society, Carers Hub, Reading Voluntary Action and Solutions 4 Health, providing information on the services they provide to this target group.

Each of the tasters provide an introduction to the activity, all of which can be accessed on an ongoing basis after the event. To reward efforts a free lunch will also be provided.

All open days will be from 9.30am to 12.30pm
Monday 23 January at Northcroft Leisure Centre, Newbury.
Wednesday 25 January at The Lambourn Centre, Close End, Lambourn.
Friday 27 January at Cotswold Sports Centre, Downs Way, Tilehurst.
