Free business training from Women’s Concerns

The My Start-Up Enterprise project aims to provide business start-up skills training and mentoring, including free training on how to start and run a successful business. The training is Big Lottery funded and provided by Women’s Concerns CIC.

The program will consist of a series of 12 half-day sessions every Wednesday starting at 10.00 am.  The next 12-week series will run from November 2016 to January 2017 at The Warehouse, 1A Cumberland Road, Reading RG1 3LB.

A one-to-one mentoring service on Saturdays is also available (by appointment only).  The first training session was on 2 November – although the series has started, new participants are still welcome to join, and can also book appointments for mentoring sessions.

The training programme is designed for adult learners aged 18 years and over. The programme is open to both men and women, with a preference for those that are unemployed or economically inactive.

The training focuses on how to:

  • Find a business idea
  • Write a simple business plan
  • Do marketing & selling
  • Obtain business finance
  • Keep business records
  • Choose a business structure
