Focus on wellbeing: Rachel Goater returns to work!

I’ve been on maternity leave for 9 months but am happy to be working at RVA again and with your organisations.

I thought I’d just say a quick hello to let you know I was back, but also to outline what I’ll be working on as a few things have changed while I’ve been away!

Wellbeing Directory

I am developing an easily searchable database of organisations and their services to help those looking for interventions that support wellbeing. We will be using your organisations’ entries in the existing RVA database, so we rely on the information being up to date and including information of any services that may help improve wellbeing.

This is particularly important if you run a service that may not be immediately obvious from your organisation (eg a church that runs a lunch club). Why not take a moment to check your directory entry and let us know if you would like to update your entry by filling in our online form?

If you know of anything you think should be including in a searchable database of services for wellbeing that may not be known to us, please let me know. (Or if you have any other thoughts about what would make the directory user-friendly.)

Ready Friends

I will be taking over from Demelza in developing Ready Friends, a scheme which supports Reading befriending organisations to recruit more volunteers, provide appropriate training, share good practice and access funding. The next befriending forum will take place in early January and we have more training sessions in the pipeline, both for befriending organisations and their volunteers.

If your organisation recruits befrienders or is thinking of doing so and you’re not yet on our Ready Friends mailing list, have a look at the Ready Friends page on our website and join our mailing list.

My working days are Monday – Wednesday.
