As many of you will know the Covid-19 outbreak forced us to postpone this year’s Reading Volunteer Awards scheduled to have taken place in June. Whilst we don’t know if, when and in what form the Awards will take place we do know that volunteers have been at the forefront of the community response to the impact of the coronavirus and that as we move tentatively towards recovery volunteers will continue to play a vital role.

With this in mind, we are seeking contributions to our project to capture the stories of volunteers from across our town. Throughout August we hope to conduct interviews with a wide range of volunteers to collect material to showcase the difference volunteering is making to our town. We are looking from contributions not only from volunteers who have helped out during the outbreak but from anyone who has volunteered locally in the previous year.

The material collected will be used across our online platforms and will form an important part of our ongoing promotional activities as we look to convert the unprecedented levels of interest we have seen in volunteering during the crises into an ongoing commitment to support the vital work of our towns diverse volunteer involving organisations.

If you manage a team of volunteers who have a story to tell or you are a volunteer who would like to share your experience please contact steve.hendry@rva.org.uk for further details.
