The National Lottery is offering grants of up to £10,000 for groups to hold one-off events or activities which celebrate your local community. You could celebrate something from your community’s history or a local hero, or the event could be a chance to bring people together to get to know their neighbours better. They have a total of £3.875 million for projects in England. You can apply if you are a voluntary or community organisation with a constitution and a bank account, a school, or a statutory body.
Carriers for Causes
Groundwork’s Carriers for Causes grants are available for good causes within two miles of a One Stop shop. Grants of up to £1,000 will be available to support projects that benefit local communities – helping to improve lives and local places. The types of projects funded will be very broad and will cover the direct costs needed to deliver the project: this could be buying litter pickers and bags for community cleanup days, buying plants, spades and forks to plant up a new community garden, the cost of a minibus for a community group day trip, or the materials needed to paint a room at the local hospice.
These are just two of the many grant and award programmes featured in the July 2016 edition of Reading Borough Council’s Funding Digest. Visit the fundraising page on the RBC website for details of how to subscribe, free of charge, to this monthly publication, which is only available to charities and voluntary and community organisations and groups working primarily for the benefit of residents and communities in the Borough of Reading.
