Reading Voluntary Action is pleased to be hosting the first in a series of Befriending Forums in partnership with Age UK Reading. The information-sharing and networking event will take place on Wednesday 29 June, from 10am until 12pm on the third floor of Reading Central Library.

The forum will be an opportunity to discuss befriending in Reading and consider the picture nationally. There will be sessions on the future of befriending schemes, funding, and recruiting volunteers, as well as opportunities to network with people from other organisations with an interest befriending.

It’s hoped the event will be of value to organisations in Reading, and the surrounding areas, that run befriending schemes, are working on reducing social isolation, or are just interested in finding out more about befriending.

This is a free event and you can book your place via Eventbrite.

The Befriending Forum is taking place as part of Ready Friends, a new project which is working to promote existing befriending schemes and encourage more people in Reading to volunteer as befrienders. To find out more contact ready.friends@rva.org.uk or come along on 29 June!
