This online Mental Health Awareness course is open to anyone currently volunteering with a local group, involved in informal volunteering and/or community action in Reading or anyone considering taking on such a role. The course is offered free of charge.
The two half-day course will run over Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 October, 1-30-3:30pm, via Zoom, and aims to raise awareness of mental health. It covers:
- What mental health is and how to challenge stigma.
- Basic knowledge of some common mental health issues.
- An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing.
- Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
Designed by MHFA England and delivered, via Zoom, by an experienced local instructor, those completing this course will receive a manual and workbook as well as a certificate of attendance.
