With children and young people out of education for so long and given the current climate, the return to school may be an overwhelming experience. The Council for Disabled Children have collated a list of resources and guidance that you may find useful to help ease the process.

Travel to school webpage

A new web portal created to provide all the latest information to help pupils travel safely to school is now live at: www.reading.gov.uk/schooltravel. You will find an interactive map which allows users to explore and understand different travel options to schools including walking, cycling and public transport routes. A downloadable infographic has been produced for every school in Reading, providing bespoke travel advice for pupils and parents to encourage safe and active travel. As well as information on walking, cycling and public transport links, the infographic provides useful guidance on staying safe whilst travelling ,and other useful links.

Help with school uniforms

First Days, a charity based in Hurst, offers help with school uniforms and can be contacted on 0118 921 9338 or via their website. Reading Family Information Service has a list of charities which provide help towards school uniform, dependent on need and parent/carer situation, and they can be contacted by email at fis@reading.gov.uk or by calling 0118 937 3777, option 2.
