Sarah del Tufo – Reading Community Learning Centre
Life In Reading Award*
Sarah has long been an active volunteer in the charity sector in Reading and beyond.
She is well known for her strong values, her dedication to improving the lives of those for whom society can present barriers, and for her endless hard work.
She supports many causes and individuals but is best known to us as Chair of Reading Community Learning Centre, which she helped to found in 2008.
The Community Learning Centre has faced many difficulties in the current economic climate, and the fact that it has not only survived but has creatively expanded its offering is in many respects down to Sarah and her work with Aisha Malik, the Centre Manager.
Sarah is willing to turn her hand to anything, from preparing detailed funding applications to talking to learners, to clearing up rubbish. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
Sarah’s passionate dedication to the women who use the Centre and to the staff and volunteers comes from her core being; she endeavours to grow, support, govern and fundraise for them anytime, anywhere.
*Recognising those who work to make Reading the unique, vibrant and welcoming place we all know it can be!
