Are you clear on your reporting requirements?

Author's position

Charities provide an invaluable service in our communites but it is also important to keep up to date with your filing requirements. If you are a new charity, this process might seem alien to you but everything becomes easier with familiarity and RVA can walk you through the process.

The key thing is to be clear about when you will be approaching the first filing dates with the Charities Commission. This will normally be within 10 months after the end of your financial year.

To help make the process clearer and easier to follow, we have prepared a very simple guide which you can find here Charity Reporting and Accounting. As explained in the guide, what you need to file will depend on your charity structure and your gross annual income. The table on the final page gives you a quick list of what you need to file depending on your charity type. The guide also includes links to key documents and templates to help you.

If you would like further guidance, feel free to contact us at advice@rva.org.uk or 0118 9372273 and we will be happy to walk you through the process.

We also have a wealth of other guidance and information in our Knowledge Base section on the website – do check it out if you haven’t already seen this.
