We need volunteers to work in teams to ensure a safe and successful event. You will be the eyes and ears on the ground, with up to 15,000 people taking part in the Reading Half on the day. Team Alzheimer’s Society runners alone are hoping to raise over £30,000 from the Reading Half Marathon, and they need you to represent Alzheimer’s Society to support them in the event.
What’s my role? You will be a vital part of the event providing support and guidance to both runners and spectators.
- Key Activities Working as a team to set up your specific areas prior to the arrival of the runners and aid in the tidying up once the event has finished.
- Be the eyes and ears on the ground bringing any issues to the attention of your team leader.
- Check your areas prior to the event to ensure we are ready to start the race, identify any issues and raise them where necessary.
- Help ensure safety of both runners and spectators through helping to monitor minor road closures and areas where crowd barriers are in use and prevent non-competitors straying onto the course.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people, have fun, and help maximise the vital funds our runners raise. So, what are you waiting for? Be part of something incredible and volunteer today!
