Join the Reading Town Meal steering group!

Coordination / Projects volunteers needed for Food4Families in RG1

crowd_by_getreadingReading Town Meal is a big celebration of local food in Reading. Over 1,000 local people tuck in to a delicious free lunch cooked by Reading College students from the fresh ingredients grown by gardeners, allotment holders and local food producers.   The home-grown feast is served up in Forbury Gardens alongside a packed programme of music, workshops, hands-on activities, plus a market place of community groups and local food stalls including lots of fun activities for children of all ages.

The Town Meal steering group is looking for new members to help plan this years event. Each member of the steering group generally takes on an area of responsibility. They are supported in their role by the chair and from July onwards by the Town Meal Intern. The role can be shared amongst more than one person where appropriate.

Each role shouldn’t need more than an hour of work a week in the persons own time, though it would probably be in concentrated periods of time, rather than spread out over every week.
