Help young people access equine assisted therapy
Transport / Driving volunteers needed for Reading Young Carers
We are looking for volunteers to help drive young people from Reading to Binfield and back where they will be taking part in 1-2-1 Equine Assisted Therapy
You will be asked to pick the child up from school, take them to their session, wait while they have their session and bring them home again.
Being in the car is a really open time for young people as we often find they will open up more when an adult is focussed on a task like driving and not looking at them! This is a crucial time in their therapy journey to have a supportive befriender who can talk to them.
If you don’t have your own transport but could support the project, there is a possibility of using an Reading Borough Council (RBC) pool car. Either way the insurance implications are covered by RBC. You just need a full clean driving licence.
You’ll have all the training and support you need for this satisfying and much valued role.
