Help look after the Kennet and Avon Canal

Gardening / Outdoor work volunteers needed for The Conservation Volunteers Reading in RG1

The Canal Crew is a new volunteer group helping to look after the Kennet and Avon Canal in Berkshire.

This group will focus on the canal between Reading and Newbury, carrying out a range of activities to keep the locks and towpath in top condition.

These activities include

  • painting
  • litter picking
  • tree planting
  • hedge-laying, wildlife surveys
  • Himalayan Balsam pulling
  • path repair
  • bank protection

The Canal Crew meet every Tuesday. We meet at the Conservation Volunteers office in Reading and then go out to site together in our Mini bus. However there is no parking at the office so there is sometimes the option to meet on site.
