Could you be a ‘Positive Futures’ Mentor?
Befriending / Visiting volunteers needed for Thames Valley Positive Support (TVPS)
TVPS, Berkshire’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, have recently been awarded funding from the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund to launch a brand new service to support long term diagnosed HIV positive people and reduce their isolation.
The project, ‘Positive Futures’, needs volunteer mentors who could spend an hour a week with a TVPS service user
- either helping them learn a new skill
- attending a class or course together
- helping them speak out about the things they do or don’t like in their communities
- even just lending an ear for a chat.
Would you like to help someone who is HIV positive to unlock their potential, and together change the stigma that is still associated with HIV?
We believe that our volunteers should gain as much from their role as the person they are supporting.
